We welcome student groups to the Edward L. Gaylord-T. Boone Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum! Your students can even brush up on their Oklahoma history knowledge before they come by taking our Oklahoma Hall of Fame Quiz!
The Gaylord-Pickens Museum is offering 4,500 FREE FIELD TRIPS during the 2008-2009 school year, thanks to the generosity of Dell and the OHA Teen Board. The free field trip program includes free admission to the Museum and the teacher's choice of a free lunch for each student or a gas card to help with transportation, in the amount of $3 per student. Please have the following information ready to make your reservation: • Two possible visit dates and estimated time of arrival • School name, mailing address, phone number and fax number • Name of person in charge of group and contact information, if different from above • Grade level(s) of students • Number of students in group • Number of teachers/chaperones • Payment method – payment on arrival is allowed • Whether you would like to make use of our orientation room before/after your tour
Student groups in grades 6 through 12 must be accompanied by at least one adult per every 10 students. Students in grades 1 through 5 must be accompanied by at least one adult per every 5 students.
Students (grades 1 through 12): $3 Adult chaperones (1 per 10 students for 6-12 grades; 1 per 5 students for grade 5 and below): Free Additional adults: $6 Bus drivers and/or tour guides (maximum of two per group): Free
When your student group arrives at the Oklahoma Heritage Museum, your group leader should come to the ticket counter (on the north side of the building) to pick up tickets and finalize payment for the entire group. Please have an exact count of students, adult chaperones and additional adults. Tickets can be paid for prior to arrival or on arrival. Tickets should then be distributed to each individual in the group.
If you choose, your student group can make use of our orientation room, complete with light boxes and marker boards for each of the five characteristics of an Oklahoman – generosity, perseverance, pioneer spirit, optimism and individuality. Your group members can discuss what these characteristics mean to them before or after your tour.
Buses may load/unload passengers on the north side of the building at the main entrance but must park at the north end of the parking lot in the designated bus parking area.
Photography, video or tape recording in the exhibits is only allowed with special permission from the Oklahoma Heritage Museum's administrative staff. Please silence cell phones and pagers to refrain from disturbing other guests’ museum experience.
Outside food and drink (with the exception of sack lunches brought by student groups) are prohibited. School groups may bring sack lunches to eat in the orientation room or while visiting the Edith Kinney Gaylord Garden.
